New Years Eve, SSDD

On a day like today, it kind of sucks not being anyone's favorite person. Being my cat's favorite person doesn't count- she doesn't fix dinner or slow dance. Nor will she experience any greater glee being kissed at midnight. She'll know my heart isn't in it.

(P.S. I am not staying at home tonight.)

gonna get some sand in my shoes

I've spent the last five days relaxing by the pool and watching movies late into the night on an enormous television, lounging on an air mattress. Malibu and cokes at the beach, standing on the edge of the pier. Visiting Edison and Ford's winter homes in Fort Myers. While on vacation I finished The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2007 (Ed: Eggers) and The Hours (Cunningham) and began Sin in Second City (Abbott). I also delighted myself in finishing an entire container of chocolate peanut butter truffles (Godby).

"Today I am a Ma'am"

Yea, I'm Mary Richards. WHAT!

My dream last night was an amalgamation of Back To The Future, Beyonce, werewolves and Donnie Darko. Doc was giving out rat tails as prizes, and Beyonce actually ate hers. (Because she is a werewolf.) We travelled to these woods and played board games with Donnie and I spent the last part of the dream trying to hollow out a metal cup filled with wood with a metal pen.

The stars of the dream before that were Eastern European carnies. Angie and I rode this terrible mega-swing at a county fair (I'm scared to death of The Swing as it is)...all the men came back to my Miami Vice pad, I slept in fear of them killing me and woke up with one that had the body type of Ronnie from Jersey Shore kissin' on me. I guess I started it. He was wearing light wash jeans.

I've been without my nose in a book for about a week now and this is where my mind wanders.

Joined twitter. Same name as this one.

I would rather be here! My landlord and his friend are working on the gutters and repainting our porch (Thanks be to responsible landlords) so there is nothing but the sound of dog barking and paint scraping happening in this place. Drab.

"You'll be having my head as big as a birthday, because I left all my doubts on the airplane"

OK!

"To gain an idea of where you stand, add your quiz grades together, drop one quiz, divide by 9 if you did not do the extra credit assignment, divide by 10 if you did. Multiply that number by .25, then total your 2 exams, divide by 2, and multiply that number by .75. Add the quiz number to the exam number and that will be your average going into the exam. Realize your exam average is actually only worth 50% of your grade at this point but this at least gives you an idea of where you stand. You can plug what you hope to earn on the exam and add to the 2 exams then multiply that number by .75 to give you an idea of what you need to maintain or raise your average."

Another reason I dislike this professor is because she sent the study guide in Comic Sans.

somebody's got to be the instigator!

"Each one present has a work to do, be his or her situation what it may, however limited their means, or insignificant their supposed influence. The great men of this country will not do this work; the church will never do it. A desire to please the world, to keep the favor of all parties and of all conditions, makes them dumb on this and every other unpopular subject."

Angelina Emily Grimke Weld Speech (1838)- Teacher, abolitionist, women's suffragist, outrageous and inspiring. Her last public speech caused a mob of thousands to burn down the very hall where it was given.
